Surprise! You made it. #trust30

Surprise by Ashley Ambirge

I will not hide my tastes or aversions. I will so trust that what is deep is holy, if we follow the truth, it will bring us out safe at last. – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Think of a time when you didn’t think you were capable of doing something, but then surprised yourself.  How will you surprise yourself this week?

…….

I surprise myself every day. And sometimes I even manage to surprise someone else. Every day is a challenge, and accomplishing the goals I set myself is always cause for surprise, even if it was a done deal when I started.

I know enough not to take things for granted, not even the most basic things. Hey! Even crossing the streets can be dangerous so let’s not take for granted something so basic as surviving the next day.

Now in a not so gloomy way: I surprise myself every day when I keep writing and posting in my blog. I’m totally surprised when even after the shitty day megahit, I’m able to come home, sit down and put my thoughts in a computer screen. And other people actually read them!

I surprise myself when facing everyday problems, I’m able to keep my faith in something better and keep going even when it’s a lost cause.

Hell! I’m even shell-shocked when I feel I’m in no conditions to drive, and nevertheless I bring the car home, and do an ass-kicking job when navigating through hundreds of drunken people in tiny streets.

I’m surprised with my will to read and learn and even tackling things as difficult to me as managing online tools. But I still do it. Some work out better than others, but I’m not perfect and definitely, not a computer geek.

I sure as hell am truly shocked when I think “I can’t do that!” and then all planets seem to align themselves, and the Universe conspires for all to join forces and see me through the ordeals. (Pretty cool when someone needs help and you are able to do it, because for you are peanuts but for them mean the world. And I’ve been on the receiving end of that line a lot.)

And I’m thinking that if I knew myself better maybe I wouldn’t be so surprised with my achievements, but I think it’s the other way around. I know that in some of these ordeals I’m on a knife’s edge, and there’s always a possibility of doing the wrong choice, just because it’s less complicated, or compromising. But I won’t assume failing without trying.

I maybe wouldn’t be able to do it, but I ain’t quitting while I’m ahead. If I fail then I will have a lots of time to deal with consequences, but it will never ceased to amaze me when something (anything) goes right.
