Review: “The Wind-Blown Man” by Aliette de Bodard in ISF
I confess, I had to read it a couple of times to be able to discern if I missed something between the lines (probably did anyway). I want to give it the due credit for the world-building. Research and dedication should always be praised and on Bodard’s case they are recurrent.
But I also thought that even though it’s not a new idea it could be easily missed if the author hadn’t commented on it. Ended up with a feeling that some of the concepts get swallowed by the story progression and that the reader gets tangled, trying to understand a new world without the proper guidance.

Review/Opinião: “The Death of Mr. Teodorescu” de Cristian-Mihail Teodorescu na ISF
Nas palavras do autor, Cristian-Mihail Teodorescu, esta é uma história sobre os problemas nos sistemas nacionais de saúde da actualidade, sobre a rentabilização do sistema através do uso dos pacientes como peças sobressalentes e sobre os princípios puramente económicos que regem a nossa sociedade.
Para mim é uma crítica directa ao papel dos governos no tratamento dos indivíduos que o compõem, à negação da dor de outrem e ao egoísmo calculista dos seres humanos.
Reading Romances Challenge: June Completed
Hi all. This is my Reading Romances Challenge monthly status. June challenge brought us a lot of variety.
In Topics we could choose between fairytales, sports or any stand-alone book. In themes there were weddings and all things related, m/m romance and all royal titles included. And the special event theme was the repeat day which made us find an author with the same initial letter in their first and last names.

Para lá do oceano há uma tradição que inclui convidar celebridades locais e internacionais para proferirem os discursos de encerramento do ano lectivo universitário. De vez em quando alguns destes textos e as suas mensagens distinguem-se de tal forma que encontram o caminho para o público de outras partes do mundo.
Há tempos atrás emocionei-me com as palavras de J.K. Rowling. Hoje deixo-vos aqui Neil Gaiman no seu discurso de incentivo aos finalistas da University of the Arts (e a todos os autores, artistas e criativos).
